Microwave Repair
Microwave Oven Repair
Solo, grill and convection ovens — heating failures, magnetron and diode faults, turntable problems, door interlocks and control panel repair.
Overview
A sealed high-voltage appliance, not a DIY job
A microwave that runs but no longer heats is usually the magnetron, the high-voltage diode or the capacitor. What makes this appliance different from the rest of the kitchen is that the capacitor can hold a dangerous charge long after the oven is unplugged, which is exactly why opening one at home is a bad idea even for the confident.
We test rather than swap parts. Sparking, for example, is far more often a worn waveguide cover or a metallic-trimmed dish than the magnetron everyone assumes it is. You get the diagnosis and the cost before any part is ordered or fitted.

FAQ
Microwave Repair — Common Questions
My microwave runs but does not heat. What is that?
Almost always the high-voltage side — magnetron, diode or capacitor. It needs testing rather than guessing, since a magnetron is the most expensive of the three and the least likely to be at fault on its own.
Is it safe to keep using a microwave that sparks?
No. Stop using it and have it looked at. Sparking is usually a worn waveguide cover, which is inexpensive, but running it in that state can damage the cavity and the magnetron.
Is repairing a microwave worth it?
It depends on the fault and the age of the oven. We will quote the repair and tell you honestly when replacement is the more sensible option, particularly on entry-level solo models.
Can I open the microwave myself to check?
Please do not. The capacitor can hold a dangerous charge long after the oven has been unplugged. It is one of the few appliances in the house that genuinely needs a technician.
