Cooling that has fallen off gradually over weeks, ice forming on the copper pipes or the indoor coil, and an outdoor unit that runs continuously without the room getting cold. Gas is not consumed in normal use — if the charge is low, there is a leak, and it needs finding rather than topping up.

Twice a year in the NCR, and the important one is before summer. Where the outdoor unit sits in heavy dust — a construction area, a main road, an industrial belt — three times a year is genuinely better value, because a choked condenser costs you more in electricity than the service does.

The drain line is blocked, so condensate backs up in the tray and overflows into the room. Other causes are an indoor unit that has drifted off level, a cracked drain tray, or ice on the coil melting faster than the drain can carry away — and that last one points at a gas or airflow problem behind it.

Almost always, yes. Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, sensors and coil cleaning are all done in place, including on wall-mounted units at height with proper access equipment. Only compressor replacement normally requires the unit to come down.

Around two hours done properly. The leak has to be found and repaired, then the system evacuated under vacuum to pull out air and moisture, and only then charged by weight and checked against running pressures. A twenty-minute gas top-up is a job that will come back.
