Is the fault worth repairing on an older appliance?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If the repair cost approaches a meaningful share of what a replacement would cost, or the manufacturer no longer supplies the part, we will tell you that during the diagnosis so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
One room never cools properly. Is the system undersized?
Very rarely. It is nearly always airflow — a closed or failed damper, a crushed flexible duct, a blocked grille or a system that was never balanced after installation. We measure airflow at each outlet before recommending anything, because adding capacity to an airflow problem solves nothing.
How often does a central AC system need servicing?
Twice a year as a minimum, and quarterly for commercial installations that run long hours. That covers filter banks, coil cleaning, drain pans, belt and blower checks, refrigerant pressures and the control sequence. Central systems fail expensively when servicing slips.
What is the difference between AC service and AC repair?
A service is planned maintenance — filters, coil and blower cleaned, drainage cleared, gas pressure and electricals checked. A repair fixes something that has failed. A good share of “not cooling” complaints turn out to need a service rather than a repair, and we will tell you when that is the case instead of selling you the bigger job.
